Pyunik Yerevan completed the job on Marsaxlokk at the Republican Stadium, needing until deep into the second half to break through despite playing against ten men for most of the night. The standout moment came inside the opening ten minutes, when Marsaxlokk goalkeeper Christoffer Mafoumbi was sent off for violent conduct.
Despite the extra man, Pyunik had to wait until the 80th minute for Daniil Kulikov to settle things from the penalty spot.
