Marsaxlokk vs Pyunik

Pyunik Yerevan made a commanding statement in Malta, beating Marsaxlokk 0–3 in the first leg of their UEFA Conference League qualifier. The Armenian side were in control throughout, and the result was never really in doubt after a composed opener just before the break. Momo Yansane broke the deadlock in the 41st minute, then turned provider as Artak Dashyan doubled the lead just six minutes after the restart. Mikhail Kovalenko sealed it on 65 minutes, assisted by Iasonas Pikis. Marsaxlokk had no real answer — Juan Corbalan saw yellow on 40 minutes as frustrations mounted, with Nicky Muscat also booked late on. Pyunik head into the second leg in Yerevan next week with a three-goal cushion and virtual certainty of progression. For Marsaxlokk, it's a painful result — the Maltese club had hoped to reach the second round of European competition for the first time in their history.
