Having arrived a goal up from the first leg, the Icelandic side had to survive a spirited Győri ETO fightback to book their spot in the next qualifying round. Daniel Hafsteinsson put Víkingur Reykjavík ahead in the 34th minute, only for Milán Vitális to level from the penalty spot four minutes later. Győri ETO then edged in front when Sveinn Gísli Þorkelsson turned the ball into his own net in first-half stoppage time, but Hafsteinsson struck again just after the hour to make it 2-2. Several yellow cards were shown as both sides pushed for a winner. The draw was enough for Víkingur Reykjavík, who progress 3-2 on aggregate and continue their European run, while Győri ETO's Champions League qualifying campaign ends at the first hurdle despite matching their visitors on the night.
