Kauno Zalgiris and Drita played out a 1-1 draw in their UEFA Champions League first qualifying round first leg in Kaunas. The Lithuanian hosts looked set for a famous home win before the Kosovo side snatched a crucial late equalizer. Amine Benchaib put Zalgiris ahead just before the half-hour mark, converting a smart assist from Rokas Lekiatas. The home side stayed in front through a fractious second half — four yellow cards were handed out — until Blerim Krasniqi levelled things up in the 82nd minute, latching onto a pass from Raddy Ovouka to silence the 4,484-strong crowd at the Darius and Girėnas Stadium. The draw leaves the tie perfectly poised ahead of the return leg on July 14 at Drita's Fadil Vokrri Stadium in Pristina. Zalgiris must take something away from Kosovo to keep their Champions League dream alive — the loser drops into Conference League qualifying.
