AJ Auxerre vs OGC Nice
Match Report
Auxerre finally got off the mark this season, edging out Nice 1-0 at the Stade de l'Abbé-Deschamps to claim their first win in four Ligue 1 outings. It wasn't pretty, but it was decisive: Nice controlled long spells of possession without ever truly threatening, while Auxerre soaked up pressure and struck when it mattered most.
The only goal came in the 74th minute, when a defensive mix-up from Youssouf Ndayishimiye handed Cameron Archer a clear sight of goal, and the striker made no mistake past Yehvann Diouf. At the other end, goalkeeper Mamadou Diop was outstanding for the hosts, pulling off several key saves to protect the lead, while captain Kévin Danois drove things forward in midfield. Nice threw on four fresh legs late, including Hicham Boudaoui, but couldn't find a way past Will Still's well-organised backline.
For Auxerre, the win is huge relief, lifting them off the foot of the table with their first points of the campaign. For Nice, it's the opposite story: still winless after five matches and now bottom of Ligue 1, they head into a must-win trip to Lille next Sunday under real pressure to avoid another crisis season.
