Stade Rennais vs Le Mans

Rennes needed a stoppage-time penalty to beat a stubborn Le Mans side 3-2 in a wild, back-and-forth afternoon at Roazhon Park. Esteban Lepaul settled it deep into added time, converting from the spot after Le Mans had clawed back from two goals down to level the contest. Lepaul had opened the scoring after five minutes before Valentin Rongier made it 2-0 on 26 minutes. Louis Mafouta hauled Le Mans back into it, scoring at the half-hour and then equalising from the penalty spot early in the second half. Substitute Djibril Sidibé was then sent off barely a minute after coming on, leaving Le Mans a man light before Lepaul's late penalty won it. The result was Rennes' first win of the season under Franck Haise, a welcome if scrappy result even with defensive questions still lingering. Le Mans can take heart from their fight, but the Sidibé suspension is an unwelcome complication heading into their next fixtures.
