FC Groningen vs PEC Zwolle

Groningen made light work of Zwolle at home, controlling the game from the first whistle and never looking back. The standout moment came from David van der Werff, whose creativity down the flank set up two of the three goals and was the driving force behind a comfortable, one-sided afternoon. Thom van Bergen opened the scoring in the 20th minute, finishing off van der Werff's delivery, before Jorg Schreuders doubled the lead just before the break in the 43rd, curling one in with his left foot. Tygo Land added a third in the 68th minute, again teed up by van der Werff, to put the result beyond doubt. Zwolle's Sherel Floranus and Koen Kostons were both booked late on as frustration crept in, but there were no red cards or penalties to speak of. The win lifts Groningen up to sixth in the table and shows real attacking sharpness. For Zwolle, it's a second heavy defeat in as many weeks following their 0-7 mauling by Feyenoord, and they slide down to 16th with plenty of work to do.
