Angers SCO vs LOSC Lille

Lille made the perfect start to their Ligue 1 campaign, brushing aside Angers 2-0 at the Stade Raymond-Kopa. The visitors were dominant from kickoff, controlling possession and peppering the target while the hosts struggled to find any rhythm going forward.

Olivier Giroud broke the deadlock in the 11th minute with a well-struck long-range effort, and Tiago Santos doubled the lead in the 31st minute, slotting home after Kylian Mbappe's initial effort was blocked. Santos thought he had added a third in the 79th minute, but it was ruled out for offside. Romain Perraud picked up a late yellow card as Lille comfortably saw out the win.

The result sends Lille top of the early table and shows their attack, led by veteran Giroud, can carry them through the campaign. For Angers, it is a sobering opening statement of the work still needed, despite pushing harder after the break.
