Guadalajara vs Querétaro

Querétaro pulled off a shock 2-0 win over Chivas at Estadio Akron, ending a 12-year drought at the venue and derailing the home side's push for top spot in the Apertura 2026 standings. Chivas dominated possession but their defense cracked under pressure all night. Ali Ávila opened the scoring in the 12th minute after Luis Romo's costly giveaway. Chivas had a second-half equalizer from Ángel Sepúlveda waved off around the 63rd minute for a foul in the buildup, and Mateo Coronel punished them soon after, doubling the lead in the 68th minute on a quick counter. Omar Govea's 89th-minute red card, for denying a breakaway, capped a miserable night for the hosts. The loss leaves Chivas second on 18 points, their unbeaten run snapped and their grip on direct playoff qualification shaken. Querétaro rise to fourth with 17 points, gaining real momentum and confidence heading into the closing stretch of the Apertura.
