Atalanta BC vs Cagliari Calcio

Cagliari pulled off another away shock in Bergamo, beating Atalanta 2-1 to back up their opening-day statement result. The visitors were the sharper side for long stretches and made their control count on the scoreboard. Paul Mendy opened the scoring in the 19th minute, turning home a Michel Adopo cross from close range. Atalanta responded just before halftime through Gianluca Scamacca, whose deflected effort found the corner in the 41st minute after a driving run from Charles De Ketelaere. Daniel Maldini restored Cagliari's lead from the penalty spot in the 61st minute, converting after Sead Kolasinac's handball, the first spot-kick scored in Serie A all season. Mendy also had a goal chalked off for offside, and things soured further for the hosts when Gianluca Gaetano was sent off after the final whistle for dissent. The result leaves Atalanta with back-to-back defeats after squandering a lead against Roma last time out, while Cagliari climb to nine points from four games, a rare fast start in the club's history.
