Johor Darul Ta'zim vs Chelsea
Sultan Ibrahim Stadium
2026
Match Report
Chelsea needed a last-gasp twist to avoid a shock defeat in Malaysia, escaping with a 3-3 draw against Johor DT after looking beaten deep into stoppage time. It capped an entertaining, end-to-end friendly at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium that swung back and forth all night.
Arif Aiman put the hosts ahead early in the 14th minute, before Liam Delap leveled from the penalty spot before halftime and then converted a second spot-kick to put Chelsea in front. Johor DT responded through a superb Óscar Arribas free-kick and then Bérgson, who looked to have won it deep in the second half. But in the 90th minute, defender Cristian Glauder turned into his own net to hand Chelsea a share of the spoils.
For Chelsea, it was a fitting end to a busy Asian tour, coming just a day after beating AC Milan, and tired legs showed. For Johor DT, the performance was another statement against elite European opposition, even if the late slip cost them a famous win.
