Match Report
Turkey came from behind to beat Venezuela 2-1 in an international friendly at Chase Stadium, Fort Lauderdale on June 6, with Yunus Akgün's second-half curler from outside the box proving the decisive difference.
Gleiker Mendoza opened the scoring in the 13th minute with a sharp counter-attack finish, assisted by Telasco Segovia. Turkey levelled just before halftime when Baris Alper Yilmaz converted from close range after an Arda Güler corner in the 44th, before Akgün curled home the winner in the 54th. The 52nd minute turned feisty as Aramburu, Segovia, and Güler were all booked in a single incident, and Venezuela were denied a late equaliser when a Ramírez effort in the 70th was ruled offside.
The result leaves Venezuela without a win in this first-ever meeting between the sides, while Turkey head into their 2026 World Cup opener against Australia on June 13 with real momentum behind them.
