SC Braga vs SC Freiburg
Match Report
Braga edged a fiery Europa League semi-final first leg 2-1 against Freiburg, thanks to a last-gasp goal that silenced any thoughts of a share at the Estádio Municipal de Braga.
Demir Ege Tiknaz struck early in the 8th minute for Braga, but Vincenzo Grifo responded swiftly with a counter-attack finish in the 16th to level things. Braga had a golden chance just before the break when a Philipp Lienhart foul earned them a penalty — but Noah Atubolu was equal to it, brilliantly keeping out Rodrigo Zalazar's spot-kick.
Substitute Mario Dorgeles, on for the injured Ricardo Horta, had the final word in the 90+2nd minute, scrambling home a rebound to hand Braga a dramatic winner.
Braga now carry a slender but valuable one-goal lead into the second leg in Germany. For Freiburg — playing in their first European semi-final in club history — the tie is very much alive, but they will need to score at the Europa-Park Stadion.
