Match Report
Arsenal reached the UEFA Champions League final for just the second time in their history, beating Atlético Madrid 1–0 at the Emirates Stadium to advance 2–1 on aggregate. A controlled, assured display from the Gunners made it an evening to savour in North London.
Bukayo Saka was the difference-maker, reacting quickest to slam in the rebound on 44 minutes after Leandro Trossard's shot was parried by Jan Oblak. Atlético pushed hard after the break, but David Raya produced a crucial stop to deny Antoine Griezmann on 55 minutes, and Gabriel was immense in defence, twice thwarting Giuliano Simeone when a goal looked certain.
Arsenal now head to Budapest with a chance to claim their first ever European crown. For Atlético Madrid and manager Diego Simeone, it is a painful exit — their dream of reaching a first Champions League final since 2016 ended at the last hurdle once again.
