Match Report
Bosnia & Herzegovina ended their World Cup group stage in style with a 3-1 victory over Qatar at Lumen Field in Seattle, with Kerim Alajbegovic's crisp strike from outside the box the standout moment in front of nearly 67,000 fans.
Alajbegovic opened the scoring on 29 minutes — a VAR review had cancelled an effort moments earlier — before Qatar gifted a second when Sultan Al-Brake turned the ball into his own net on 34 minutes. Hassan Al-Haydos responded just before the break with a close-range finish assisted by Edmilson Junior, with Edin Dzeko clattering the post in between. Ermin Mahmic put the result beyond doubt with an 80th-minute strike, picking up a booking two minutes later.
Switzerland's concurrent win over Canada meant they claimed top spot in Group B, but Bosnia finish second and very much alive in the tournament — a fine recovery after their 4-1 hammering earlier in the group. For Qatar, it is a forgettable group stage exit, unable to build on their opening draw.
