Canada vs Bosnia-Herzegovina
Match Report
Canada and Bosnia & Herzegovina shared a dramatic 1-1 draw at BMO Field in Toronto, in a match that marked the first World Cup game ever played on Canadian soil. The moment of the night belonged to Cyle Larin, whose 78th-minute deflected equalizer finally sent the home crowd into raptures.
Jovo Lukic broke the deadlock in the 21st minute, glancing a header into the net after Sead Kolasinac redirected the ball across the six-yard box from a corner. Canada dominated possession but Jonathan David squandered a golden chance at point-blank range in the 17th minute, and Tani Oluwaseyi blazed over shortly after. Larin's equaliser arrived when Promise David slid him in inside the area, his effort deflecting past a helpless Nikola Vasilj. Deep in stoppage time, Tarik Muharemovic blocked Larin's attempt at a dramatic winner.
Without the injured Alphonso Davies, Canada claimed their first-ever World Cup point on home soil, keeping their knockout stage hopes very much alive. Bosnia & Herzegovina showed resilience to hold on, but will need a win in their next outing to stay in contention.
