Slovakia cruised to a comfortable 2-0 victory over Romania in an international friendly at the Národný Futbalový Štadión in Bratislava on Monday. An early own goal from Romania striker Daniel Bîrligea set the tone inside the opening ten minutes.
Bîrligea turned the ball into his own net in the 7th minute to hand the hosts a dream start. The AC Milan forward's nightmare first half saw him replaced at the break as Romania looked to regroup.
Slovakia wasted no time after the restart. David Strelec doubled the lead just seconds into the second half in the 46th minute, finishing with a clinical left-footed strike after a pinpoint pass from Stanislav Lobotka.
It was a solid evening's work for Slovakia as they build momentum heading into their upcoming competitive fixtures, while Romania will have plenty to reflect on after a flat display on the road.
