Match Report
Club Brugge KV made it a miserable afternoon for Gent, cruising to a 2-0 away win at the Planet Group Arena and further tightening their grip on the Belgian Pro League Championship Round. The visitors wasted no time, with Hugo Vetlesen slotting home from a Hans Vanaken assist after just four minutes to set the agenda early.
Gent fought to get back into it — Max Dean and Wilfried Kanga both tested the visiting keeper — and briefly thought they had a lifeline when a C. Forbes effort hit the net in the 67th minute, only for VAR to rule it out. Christos Tzolis then put the result beyond any doubt with a cool finish in the 89th minute, punishing the hosts on the counter.
The defeat is Gent's fifth in a row, leaving them marooned in fifth place and in serious need of a reset. Club Brugge, sitting top of the table, will take huge confidence from a polished clean sheet on the road as the title charge gathers pace.
