Independiente Santa Fe breathed new life into their Copa Libertadores campaign with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Platense at El Campín on matchday five of Group E. Three goals in a frantic 25-minute spell lit up Bogotá and left both sets of fans barely able to breathe. Iván Scarpeta broke the deadlock just after the restart, heading home from an Omar Fernández corner in the 48th minute. Hugo Rodallega doubled the advantage on 71 minutes with a composed finish from the centre of the box, set up by Jáder Obrian. Platense hit back almost instantly — Augusto Lotti pulled one back with a close-range header in the 73rd minute — but Santa Fe dug in through a yellow-card-heavy closing stretch to see it out. The result is Santa Fe's first group-stage win of the competition, lifting them to five points and keeping their round-of-sixteen ambitions very much alive. For Platense, it is a damaging defeat that leaves their own knockout hopes looking increasingly fragile.
