Mirassol vs LDU Quito
Match Report
Mirassol made a statement at home, defeating LDU Quito 2-0 in Group G of the Copa Libertadores on May 7. Goalkeeper Gonzalo Valle was the visitors' standout, making a string of saves that kept the score from getting ugly — without him, it could have been far worse.
Both goals came after the break. Lucas Oliveira broke the deadlock in the 46th minute, pouncing on a scramble of rebounds in the box. Mirassol doubled the lead through Reinaldo, who tucked away a penalty in the 60th minute after Valle had fouled a Brazilian striker. Tensions spilled over late on, with visiting coach Nunes demanding "more respect" from the touchline in the 88th minute.
The defeat hit LDU Quito hard — the Ecuadorians arrived as Group G leaders but left in third place. Mirassol, meanwhile, climbed the standings and served notice that they belong in this competition.
