Match Report
Always Ready were ruthless at altitude, tearing Lanús apart 4-0 in Copa Libertadores Group G at the Estadio Municipal El Alto. The night's defining stretch came right before halftime, when two goals in a single minute put the contest well beyond doubt.
Richet Gómez opened proceedings in the 24th minute with a stunning strike from beyond 30 meters. Always Ready had actually been denied earlier when Fernando Saucedo failed to convert a 7th-minute penalty — saved by Nahuel Losada — but that miss proved inconsequential. Enrique Triverio powered in a header from a Carlitos Rodríguez cross on 45 minutes, and Joel Amoroso followed almost immediately to make it three. Marcelo Suárez completed the rout in the 88th, his effort squirming through Losada's hands.
The defeat leaves Lanús stranded on six points — level with Liga de Quito on goal difference — with their Libertadores campaign in serious trouble. Always Ready, meanwhile, proved once more why El Alto is one of South American football's most unforgiving fortresses.
