Match Report
Corinthians dominated at home to claim a comfortable 2-0 win over Independiente Santa Fe in the CONMEBOL Libertadores group stage, with goalkeeper Mosquera Marmolejo keeping the scoreline respectable for the visitors.
Raniele broke the deadlock in the 51st minute, nodding home from a corner kick, before Gustavo Henrique doubled the advantage in the 79th with a close-range finish from a set piece. No red cards or penalties, but the tie was effectively over by the hour mark.
Santa Fe showed some bite in the opening half — Hugo Rodallega tested the home keeper from the edge of the box in the 27th — but Luis Palacios summed up their frustration when he fired over from a promising position in the 54th.
The result puts Corinthians firmly in control of Group E. For Santa Fe, back-to-back setbacks after opening with a draw against Peñarol leaves their Libertadores campaign in early trouble.
