Match Report
Nottingham Forest are into the Europa League semi-finals for the first time since 1984, edging out FC Porto 1-0 at the City Ground to progress 2-1 on aggregate. The tie turned early when Porto's Jan Bednarek was sent off for a late challenge on Chris Wood, VAR backing the referee's call in the 8th minute.
Four minutes later, Morgan Gibbs-White capitalised with a deflected shot past Diogo Costa, the ball ricocheting off Rosario to wrong-foot the keeper. Gibbs-White then lifted his shirt in tribute to teammate Elliot Anderson, whose mother had recently passed away. Porto threatened despite the handicap — Willian Gomes hit the crossbar (57') and Alan Varela struck the post (85') — but couldn't find an equaliser.
The result sets up an all-English semi-final, with Forest next facing Aston Villa in the last four. For Porto, a gallant but ultimately doomed effort with ten men.
