Sigma Olomouc held Mainz to a goalless draw in the first leg of their UEFA Europa Conference League round of 16 tie at Andrův stadion. The hosts had their own late chance when Péter Baráth unleashed a long-range effort in the 88th minute, only for Daniel Batz to tip it away. Jan Kliment (52') and Stefan Posch (83') picked up the only yellow cards in a scrappy but goalless affair. With everything still to play for in the second leg, Mainz will feel they should have taken an away goal back to Germany, while Sigma Olomouc — the lowest-ranked side left in the competition — will fancy their chances of another European upset.
