Bayern Munich produced a stunning demolition of Atalanta, romping to a 6-1 victory in Bergamo in the Champions League Round of 16 first leg. Michael Olise was the standout performer, bagging a brace as the Bavarians tore their hosts apart from the opening whistle. Josip Stanisic opened the scoring on 12 minutes before Olise and Serge Gnabry struck in quick succession at 22' and 25' to make it 3-0 before the half-hour mark. Atalanta simply had no answer to Bayern's relentless pressing. Nicolas Jackson added a fourth shortly after the break (52'), before Olise grabbed his second (64') and Jamal Musiala made it six (67'). Mario Pasalic netted a late consolation for the hosts deep in stoppage time. Bayern now have one foot firmly in the quarter-finals ahead of the return leg at the Allianz Arena. For Atalanta, overturning a five-goal deficit looks all but impossible.
