Match Report

Haiti snatched a dramatic 1-1 draw against Iceland in an international friendly at BMO Field in Toronto on Tuesday. Wilson Isidor's 88th-minute equalizer rescued Les Grenadiers after they had trailed for nearly half an hour. A cagey first half produced few clear chances on a rain-soaked pitch, with both defences well on top. Gylfi Sigurdsson broke the deadlock in the 61st minute for Iceland, finishing neatly after good work from Logi Tomasson to give the visitors a deserved lead. Haiti threw everything forward in search of a leveler and were rewarded when Frantzdy Pierrot teed up Isidor two minutes from time to spark wild celebrations among the home supporters. The result continues a mixed run for both sides as they fine-tune their World Cup preparations. Haiti will take heart from their fighting spirit, while Iceland will rue not holding on to all three points.
