Cruzeiro and Santos played out a drab 0-0 draw at a frustrated Mineirão on Sunday, in a clash between two sides desperately short on confidence. Over 43,000 fans turned up hoping for a spark, but what they got was one of the poorest spectacles of the Brasileirão season so far. Goalkeeper Gabriel Brazão was the standout performer, denying Neyser Villarreal from close range on 56 minutes and keeping out efforts from Gerson and Wanderson either side of half-time. Santos thought they had snatched it late when Álvaro Barreal found the net deep in stoppage time, but VAR ruled it out for offside — the final insult in a match desperately lacking quality.
