Cruz Azul vs Pachuca
Match Report
Pachuca stunned Cruz Azul with a 2-1 away victory in Matchday 13 of the Liga MX Clausura, ending La Máquina's unbeaten home record. Brazilian forward Robert Kenedy was the undisputed star, bagging a brace to hand the hosts a painful defeat.
A howler from goalkeeper Andrés Gudiño gifted Kenedy the opener in just the fourth minute. Cruz Azul clawed back through Christian Ebere, who bundled home from close range in first-half stoppage time (45+1'). But Kenedy restored Pachuca's lead with a stunning long-range strike in the 57th minute.
Late drama followed when Pachuca's Rivera was shown a red card after a VAR review in the 81st minute, and coach Esteban Solari was also sent off for protesting. Despite the man advantage, Cruz Azul couldn't find an equalizer.
The defeat leaves Cruz Azul second on 27 points, three behind leaders Chivas, while Pachuca climb to fifth with a crucial three points in the playoff race.
