Talleres came from behind to beat Independiente 2-1 at the Libertadores de América on matchday 12 of the Apertura, with substitute Valentín Dávila scoring the winner on his first touch. A second-half flurry of goals turned a cagey affair into a thriller.
Gabriel Ávalos broke the deadlock on 57 minutes for the hosts, pouncing on a rebound after goalkeeper Guido Herrera parried an initial effort. Talleres hit back through Augusto Schott, who rose highest from a corner to level on 68 minutes, before Dávila completed the turnaround in the 80th with his first involvement off the bench. Matías Abaldo saw red for Independiente in stoppage time for a last-man foul, capping a miserable night in Avellaneda.
The defeat leaves Independiente eighth in Zona A on 14 points with just one win in five. Talleres climb to fifth on 18 points and keep their playoff push firmly on track.
