Match Report
Lanús put on a ruthless display at La Fortaleza, hammering Newell's Old Boys 5-0 on matchday 11 of the Apertura. Dylan Aquino stole the show with a sensational hat-trick as the visitors crumbled in spectacular fashion.
Walter Bou opened the scoring from the penalty spot on 16 minutes after a handball in the box. Aquino then ran riot, striking in the 37th and 40th minutes before completing his treble on 53. Eduardo Salvio piled on the misery just a minute later to make it five.
Remarkably, all five goals came before the 55th minute — something that hadn't happened to Newell's in 2,648 matches, stretching all the way back to a 6-2 loss against Los Andes in 1962.
The win lifts Lanús into the Apertura qualification zone, while Newell's remain rooted to the bottom of the table without a single victory this season. The pressure on coach Frank Kudelka is only growing.
