Inter Miami vs Atlanta United

Inter Miami let a two-goal cushion slip at home, settling for a 2-2 draw with Atlanta United after Breel Embolo converted a penalty in his debut to snatch a late point. Kickoff was delayed over an hour by bad weather, but the action once underway made up for it, especially a frantic finish that denied Miami what looked like a routine win. Casemiro put Miami ahead in the 32nd minute, heading home a corner from Lionel Messi. Atlanta answered almost immediately through Miguel Almirón, poking in a rebound after Dayne St. Clair stopped a near own goal. Luis Suárez restored the lead right before halftime for a 2-1 scoreline. Atlanta kept pushing after the break, and although Almirón saw a penalty saved by St. Clair in the 72nd minute, Embolo made no mistake from the spot in the 87th to level it. The draw keeps Inter Miami second in the Eastern Conference, though it stings after failing to close out a two-goal lead. For Atlanta United, currently 13th, the road point is a welcome boost as they continue their push for a playoff spot.
