Match Report
Seattle Sounders ground out a gutsy road victory over Houston Dynamo at Shell Energy Stadium on Saturday night, with Paul Rothrock breaking the deadlock in the 83rd minute to settle a tense, hard-fought affair and seal a 1-0 win.
The breakthrough came from a beautifully worked team move. Kalani Kossa-Rienzi delivered an arcing cross to the near post, Jordan Morris flicked on with a deft header, and Rothrock pounced to volley the ball under the crossbar and send the travelling fans into raptures.
Goalkeeper Andrew Thomas was once again immense between the sticks, making three saves to record his fourth consecutive shutout. The Sounders have not conceded a single goal since a loss to Real Salt Lake back on February 28.
The result lifts Seattle to 4-1-1 on the season and extends their unbeaten run to four matches, while Houston slip to their third defeat in six games after a frustrating night at home.
