Match Report

Chicago Fire delivered a sucker punch at Subaru Park on Saturday, scoring twice in first-half stoppage time to beat Philadelphia Union 1-2. Hugo Cuypers broke the deadlock in the 48th minute before Jonathan Bamba doubled the lead moments later, leaving 18,753 home fans stunned at the break. Philadelphia came out swinging after halftime and Milan Iloski pulled one back on 58 minutes with his first MLS goal of the season to give the hosts hope. But the Union couldn't find an equalizer as Chicago held firm to see out a deserved three points. The result extends Philadelphia Union's nightmare start to 2026 — last season's Supporters' Shield winners remain rooted to the bottom of the table without a single point. For Chicago Fire, Cuypers has now scored in four consecutive matches and Gregg Berhalter's side climb to seventh in the Eastern Conference with seven points.
