Toronto vs New York RB
Match Report
Toronto FC thought they had their home opener wrapped up at BMO Field, but Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting had other ideas. The Cameroonian striker struck in the 98th minute to snatch a 1-1 draw for the New York Red Bulls and leave the home crowd stunned.
Dániel Sallói had put Toronto ahead just before halftime, finishing coolly in the 43rd minute to continue his hot streak after netting the winner against FC Cincinnati last week. It looked like it would be enough.
But deep into stoppage time, Choupo-Moting popped up to level the score and earn a point for Michael Bradley's side — a bittersweet return to BMO Field for the former TFC captain turned Red Bulls head coach.
Toronto will feel two points dropped on a day they controlled for long stretches, while the Red Bulls take heart from the late resilience as both sides look to build momentum in the early weeks of the MLS season.
