A breathless six-goal spectacle at Kansas City Stadium ended all square, as Algeria and Austria played out a 3-3 draw in their Group J finale. Riyad Mahrez appeared to have won it for Algeria deep in stoppage time, only for Sandi Kalajdžić to crush those hopes just three minutes later. Austria struck first through Marko Arnautović (28'), but Rafik Belghali — assisted by Mahrez — equalized right on half-time (45'). Marcel Sabitzer restored the lead for Austria (55') before Mahrez leveled again (60') and then delivered what seemed the decisive blow at 90+3'.
