FC Twente vs NEC Nijmegen

A fiercely competitive Eredivisie clash at De Grolsch Veste ended 1-1 as FC Twente and NEC Nijmegen cancelled each other out in an all-important European tussle. Sondre Ørjasæter's early goal gave the home side real momentum, but NEC had the character to fight back before half-time. Ørjasæter struck in the 10th minute — set up by Daan Rots — to hand Twente an early advantage. Bryan Linssen levelled for the visitors in the 37th minute, assisted by Philippe Sandler. Discipline was an issue for NEC, with Noé Lebreton and Deveron Fonville both picking up yellows before the break (18' and 26'). Mats Rots was booked for Twente late on in the 79th minute. The draw leaves NEC in third place, one point clear of Twente in the race for Champions League qualification. With the season entering its final stretch, this point may look significant for both clubs come the end of the campaign.
