SC Heerenveen vs Fortuna Sittard

SC Heerenveen came from behind to beat Fortuna Sittard 2-1 at the Abe Lenstra Stadion on Saturday, in what proved to be a lively Eredivisie afternoon with plenty of drama before the final whistle. Philip Brittijn put Fortuna ahead after just 12 minutes, but Heerenveen hit back quickly through Ringo Meerveld four minutes later to level at 1-1. The deadlock was finally broken in the 74th minute when Marcus Linday drove the hosts in front to complete the turnaround. The closing stages turned chaotic as Ivo Pinto was dismissed in the 90th minute, leaving Fortuna a man down for the final moments. The victory keeps Heerenveen's push for a European play-off place very much alive with just a handful of games remaining. Fortuna Sittard, meanwhile, will need to regroup quickly, with their own end-of-season survival targets still unresolved.
