F. Verissimo
2025/2026
Match Report
Benfica wasted no time at the Estádio da Luz on Sunday, dismantling Nacional 2-0 in a dominant Primeira Liga showing that was essentially over inside the opening quarter-hour.
Andreas Schjelderup broke the deadlock in just the 3rd minute, and Rafa Silva — ending a lengthy scoring drought — doubled the lead in the 14th, with Gianluca Prestianni picking up both assists. Benfica had the chance to make it three, but Vangelis Pavlidis squandered a 58th-minute penalty, Nacional keeper Kaique pulling off the crucial save. The visitors thought they had pulled one back late in the second half, only for the goal to be ruled out for a foul in the build-up.
The result keeps Benfica in third place on 66 points, still seven behind leaders Porto and with a derby at Alvalade on the horizon. For Nacional, sitting 15th on just 25 points, the relegation fight shows no sign of easing.
