Match Report

Valencia pulled off a sensational comeback to beat Alaves 3-2 at Mestalla, with Hugo Duro converting a penalty 13 minutes into stoppage time to snatch all three points in the most dramatic fashion imaginable. Lucas Boye gave the visitors a dream start from the spot in the 3rd minute, but Javi Guerra levelled shortly after half-time. Boye restored Alaves' lead in the 71st minute, and the visitors looked set to hold on. Chaos erupted late on. Jon Pacheco and Ander Guevara were both sent off for second yellows in the 90th minute, and Eray Cömert headed home to make it 2-2. Duro then stepped up from 12 yards deep into added time to complete a remarkable turnaround. The win lifts Valencia to 32 points and eases their mid-table worries. Alaves remain on 27 points in 16th, just three clear of the drop zone, left to rue a collapse that turned three points into none.
