Heidenheim sealed a vital 3-1 victory at FC Köln on matchday 33, with Jan Schöppner netting twice to hand the struggling visitors a much-needed lifeline in the relegation battle.
Schöppner headed the visitors in front in the 8th minute, only for Marius Bülter to level almost instantly for the hosts in the 10th. Arijon Ibrahimović restored Heidenheim's lead with a right-footed finish in the 28th, sending the away side into the break 2-1 up. Schöppner put the result beyond doubt in the 72nd after a crisp one-two on the right flank.
