Match Report
Borussia Dortmund sealed Champions League qualification in style, dismantling SC Freiburg 4-0 at Signal Iduna Park — fittingly, in the club's 1000th Bundesliga home match.
The hosts were in cruise control from the off. Maximilian Beier broke the deadlock in the 8th minute with a composed one-on-one finish, and Serhou Guirassy converted a Julian Brandt cross in the 14th. Ramy Bensebaini made it three before the break, nodding in from a corner, before substitute Fabio Silva wrapped things up in the 87th. Lukas Kübler thought he had pulled one back midway through the second half, only for the effort to be ruled out for offside.
The win clinches a Champions League place for Dortmund for an 11th successive season. Freiburg, who rested seven key players ahead of a Europa League semi-final in Braga on Thursday, will quickly move on — they have bigger fish to fry this week.
