Match Report
Fulham signed off their Premier League season in style, beating Newcastle 2-0 at Craven Cottage on the final day. Substitute Tom Cairney capped the win with a stunning 25-yard strike in the 80th minute, the pick of the goals on a comfortable afternoon for the Cottagers.
Issa Diop opened the scoring on 20 minutes, heading home after Kevin's free-kick rattled the crossbar. Newcastle reshuffled at half-time — Jacob Murphy making way for Harvey Barnes — but mustered just two shots on target despite controlling the majority of possession. Cairney, freshly introduced from the bench, then drove in from 25 yards following a corner, with Harry Wilson picking up the assist.
With both sides finishing on 49 points, Fulham edged above their visitors in the final standings, leaving the Magpies in 12th — their worst league finish in five years. For manager Marco Silva, out of contract in June and linked with a move to Benfica, it may well prove a glorious farewell.
