Match Report
Arsenal left it late but made history, beating Everton 2-0 at the Emirates to stretch their lead at the top of the Premier League to ten points. Sixteen-year-old Max Dowman stole the show with a record-breaking cameo off the bench.
Everton frustrated the hosts for 88 minutes, with Dwight McNeil hitting the woodwork early on. Viktor Gyökeres finally broke through in the 89th minute, tapping home after Dowman's cross deflected off Piero Hincapié.
The best was yet to come. With Jordan Pickford stranded upfield after joining a stoppage-time corner, Dowman collected in his own half, beat two defenders, and raced clear to slot into an empty net. At 16 years and 73 days, he became the youngest scorer in Premier League history.
Arsenal now have 67 points from 30 games and look unstoppable. Everton will feel hard done by after a resolute display that deserved more.
