Match Report

Borussia Dortmund pulled off the ultimate smash-and-grab at the MHPArena, scoring twice in stoppage time to inflict a 0-2 defeat on VfB Stuttgart on Matchday 28. It was a result that completely defied the run of play. Stuttgart dominated from the first whistle, enjoying nearly 70 percent possession and creating the better chances. Goalkeeper Gregor Kobel was superb, denying both Angelo Stiller and Chris Führich to keep Dortmund in the contest. Then came the late drama. Substitute Karim Adeyemi pounced on a deflected clearance and fired past Alexander Nübel in the 94th minute. Just two minutes later, Fabio Silva delivered a cross for Julian Brandt, who controlled and volleyed brilliantly into the top corner. The result strengthens Dortmund's hold on second place, while Stuttgart's top-four ambitions took a cruel blow at the death.
