Match Report
PSV left it late but ground out a crucial 2-1 home victory over AZ Alkmaar on Saturday, with Ricardo Pepi firing home the winner just four minutes from time to send the Philips Stadion into raptures.
AZ had taken a deserved lead through Billy van Duijl's powerful strike around the 15th minute, and the visitors looked comfortable for long spells. PSV were handed a lifeline just before the break when Troy Parrott inadvertently turned the ball into his own net to level the scores at 1-1.
The hosts were dealt a blow when Sergiño Dest limped off with a suspected hamstring injury around the hour mark. But Pepi rose to the occasion in the 86th minute, lashing home a cross from Ivan Perišić to complete the comeback.
The win keeps PSV cruising towards a third consecutive Eredivisie title, maintaining their commanding lead at the summit. AZ remain sixth despite a spirited display in Eindhoven.
