Match Report

England advanced to the World Cup semi-finals with a 2-1 extra-time win over Norway at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. The hero was Jude Bellingham, who scored twice to send the Three Lions through. Andreas Schjelderup put Norway ahead in the 36th minute. Bellingham levelled just before the break (45+2'), then — with penalties looming deep in extra time — pounced on a rebound after goalkeeper Ørjan Nyland spilled a shot from substitute Morgan Rogers to seal the 93rd-minute winner. Erling Haaland, the tournament's top scorer coming in, was largely quiet throughout. For England, the win breaks a run of five exits in their last six knockout ties against European sides and keeps alive the dream of a first World Cup title since 1966. Norway bow out with heads held high — Schjelderup's early strike had promised an upset — but couldn't contain Bellingham when it mattered most.
