Mirassol vs Fluminense

Mirassol pulled off a massive result at home, beating third-place Fluminense 1-0 in the Brazilian Serie A to breathe new life into their relegation fight. Denilson broke the deadlock in the 36th minute, just a moment after picking up a yellow card, converting Carlos Eduardo's cross with a clean finish into the bottom-left corner. Five yellows were distributed across a feisty afternoon, and a VAR check for a potential penalty deep into first-half stoppage time cranked up the tension, though the referee ultimately waved play on. Fluminense pushed hard in the second half but couldn't find a way through a well-organized Mirassol backline. For Mirassol, in their historic debut Serie A season, this is an enormous three points. Fluminense, juggling a packed schedule that includes Copa Libertadores commitments, missed a golden chance to close the gap on the league leaders from third place.
