FC Lorient vs RC Lens

Lorient pulled off a superb upset at the Stade du Moustoir, beating second-placed Lens 2-1 despite managing just 34% possession. Bamba Dieng opened the scoring in the 18th minute from a corner, giving the hosts a deserved early lead. Lens hit back quickly after the break through Odsonne Édouard in the 48th minute, firing home from the edge of the box. But substitute Tosin Aiyegun restored Lorient's advantage on 65 minutes, pouncing on a defensive slip to make it 2-1. Goalkeeper Yvon Mvogo was outstanding between the posts, making five saves as Lens peppered his goal with 20 shot attempts and 10 corners. The visitors threw everything forward in seven minutes of added time but couldn't find an equalizer. The win lifts Lorient to eighth on 37 points, while Lens stay second on 56 but will rue a missed chance to close the gap at the top of Ligue 1.
