Lommel SK took a commanding first-leg lead in the Promotion Play-offs final, defeating Beerschot VA 3-1 at the Soevereinstadion. The defining moment came before the quarter-hour: two goals in sixty seconds put the tie firmly in the home side's hands. Lucas Schoofs broke the deadlock in the 14th minute, and just sixty seconds later Tom Reyners doubled the advantage to 2-0. Beerschot hit back through Lukas Van Eenoo in the 24th to give themselves hope at 2-1, but Guendouz's second yellow — and subsequent red card — in the 81st minute effectively ended their comeback bid. Sam De Grand sealed it in the 85th. Lommel SK head to Antwerp for the second leg on May 9 with a two-goal cushion. Beerschot VA must now deliver a big performance at home just to keep their Jupiler Pro League dream alive.
