Match Report
LDU Quito put on a commanding show at the Estadio Rodrigo Paz Delgado, cruising past Mirassol 2-0 in the Copa Libertadores group stage. Both goals came before halftime, and the home side never looked in danger of surrendering their lead.
Yerlin Quiñónez got things going in the 5th minute with a long-range strike that survived a VAR offside review before standing. José "Choclo" Quintero, the captain, doubled the advantage in the 34th minute with a composed left-footed finish after a slick team move. The second half brought some edge — Quintero picked up a knee injury at 62', Mirassol's Negueba was stretchered off at 65' following a collision, and Lucas Oliveira was sent off in the 82nd minute after collecting his second yellow card.
The result sends LDU Quito to the top of Group G with six points from two matches. Mirassol, reduced to ten men late on, will need to regroup quickly if they are to remain a factor in the group stage.
